The Banjo Lounge 4 are an Edinburgh-based acoustic crate digging mash-ups band delivering classic songs in ever more original and imaginative arrangements. Once described as ‘Hayseed Dixie on speed with a serious chunk of Funk!’, they have been making fans wherever they play. Since their inception in 2007, their shows have included the Ryder Cup closing party in 2014, ‘The List’ party, Underbelly’s St. Andrews day celebrations at the World Famous Spiegeltent, shows for Visit Scotland, Kelburn, Insider, Feis Na Mara & Wickerman Festivals, Edinburgh Film Festival wrap party, Edinburgh Book Festival launch party, Fyne Ales Craft Beer Extravaganza ‘Fynefest’, Club Vegas and last summer a pool party in Ibiza along with over 300 other shows from the old Marquee Club in Soho to playing on a cocktail boat on Loch Lomond.
With 5 string banjo, acoustic guitar, double bass and drums, the band also features 3 part harmonies and some say that their bluegrass-funk interpretations are often better than the originals. Their eclectic and diverse blend of mash-ups include tunes by Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Metallica, Panjabi MC’s Knightrider remix of ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’, a bluegrass souped-up version of Dizzy Rascal’s ‘Dance Wiv Me’, New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’, ‘Jump Around’ by House of Pain, a high octane version of Duran Duran’s ‘Girls on Film’, a stylophone-powered treatment of The Beastie Boys’ ‘Intergalactic’, Beyonce’s ‘Crazy in Love’, and Nelly’s freshly bluegrass-ed ‘Hot In Herre’.
Thanks for playing at our party last night, lots of great comments from our guests and people asking ‘who’s your band, they’re fantastic’. So, many thanks – please pass on to the others. I just wish I had had the chance to dance like the rest of them!
This is just a quick email to express thanks for playing at our wedding on 28th July at the Hotel Du Vin in Glasgow. The whole day was amazing and having you guys play away the evening the perfect ending to it. I had many guests approach me that evening and the days afterwards saying you guys were great. I think my dad is your new number one fan! My favourite song was obviously Atomic by Blondie – your new magnum opus – it was pretty epic! So thanks once again, and keep on doing what you do! Please express our thanks to the rest of the band also.
